The 'banana belt' or Carolinian Canada is a region in Ontario found south of a line which runs approximately from Grand Bend to Toronto. This blog follows my exploration of the area.
These were found on a sand bar on the Sydenham near my office. The larval form borrows deep into the sand, which explains the relationship to the substrate.
I have alway loved tiger beetles - they are common around our pool in spring and early summer.
